Job summary
The Maine Department of Transportation in Augusta seeks an entry-level engineer to support Intelligent Transportation Systems and traffic engineering. You will review preliminary and final plans for compliance with engineering standards and project specifications, and study traffic patterns to identify problems and impacts.
You will gain experience with CMS, RWIS, traffic signals, incident management devices, and the Transportation Management Center, while learning transportation planning,
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Certification of Engineer-Intern as issued by the State Board of Licensure.
- Non-engineering grads may qualify with Engineer-Intern Certification.
- Knowledge of ITS and highway engineering principles is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Review preliminary and final plans for compliance with standards and project specifications.
- Study traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess potential project impact.
- Evaluate transportation systems to determine need for modifications or expansions on projects.
