Job summary
County of Imperial’s Department of Behavioral Health seeks an entry-level Substance Use Disorders Counselor I to provide group and individual counseling, education, and assessments for clients within the Alcohol and Drug Programs, under direction. You will learn counseling methods while supporting liaison with other agencies to maximize client services.
Education requirements include an Associate’s Degree in relevant fields; current counselor certification may substitute experience.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in relevant fields plus one year of counseling/training in alcohol or drug programs.
- Current Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification may substitute for experience.
- Current valid registration or certification as Alcohol and Drug Counselor per California requirements.
- Must have a valid California Driver’s License.
Responsibilities
- Provide group and individual counseling, education, and assessments for clients.
- Liaise with other agencies to assure maximum client services.
- Learn and apply a wide range of counseling methods under supervision.
