Job summary

Boss Shop in Indianapolis is seeking an Entry Level Shop Technician to perform basic diesel repair tasks and participate in structured training. You will complete oil changes, lubrication, tire work, and basic electrical repairs while learning shop operations.

The position emphasizes training programs, safety, and a clear path for professional growth, with support for ASE/DOT certifications and a strong team environment.

Qualifications

• Entry level mechanical repair experience preferred.
• Able to complete on-site training and learning programs.
• DOT Medical Card required at Boss Shops.
• Ability to obtain ASE and other relevant certifications.
• Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Completes training programs and evaluations within designated timeframes.
• Performs preventative maintenance services including oil changes and lubrication.
• Greases trucks and trailers.
• Performs tire repair, replacement, and related services.
• Conducts CSA inspections and emergency road service calls.
• Electrical diagnosis and repairs (basic).
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of shop and work areas.
• Accurately completes work orders with labor, parts, and customer information.
• Upholds safety policies and contributes to customer satisfaction.

The Entry Level Shop Technician is responsible for performing entry level mechanical repairs in a timely and professional manner.

Essential Job Duties/Functions

• Completes assigned training programs, evaluations, and e-learning within designated timeframes.
• Performs preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacement.
• Greases trucks and trailers.
• Performs tire repair, replacement, and related services.
• Conducts CSA inspections and emergency road service calls.
• Perform basic electrical diagnosis and repairs, including lighting, wiring, and 7-way replacements.
• Perform minor trailer maintenance and body repairs.
• Conducts basic air system repairs, including airline replacement, fittings, glad hands, and splices.
• Performs battery testing and replacement.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of the shop and work areas.
• Ensures all tools, equipment, and service vehicles are clean, functional, and properly maintained.
• Properly stores parts, tires, and supplies.
• Accurately completes work orders, including labor, parts, and customer information.
• Ensures total customer satisfaction and uphold the integrity of the company.
• Follows all company safety policies and procedures.
• Completes OSHA Skills Demonstration and required safety training.
• Maintains current LMS training requirements.
• Provides friendly, professional, and competent customer service.
• Reports to work as scheduled and on time.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience (include certs or licenses needed)

• DOT Medical Card required at Boss Shops.
• Ability to obtain ASE, DOT, and other relevant certifications as required.
• Successful completion of internal technician training programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured to drive company vehicles.
• Reliable transportation and phone.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and as needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (if applicable).
• Demonstrated commitment to friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
• Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with team members.
• Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
