Job summary

The State's Attorney's Office for Charles County seeks a Junior Assistant State’s Attorney to prosecute state crimes within Charles County, Maryland. You will represent the State in District and Circuit Courts and handle a broad range of criminal matters.

ASAs litigate assigned cases, conduct discovery, interview witnesses, and prepare pleadings. Admission to the Maryland Bar is required; 0-5 years of prosecutorial experience is welcome.

Qualifications

• Must be admitted to the Maryland Bar.
• 0-5 years of prosecutorial experience.

Responsibilities

• Appear in the District and Circuit Courts for Charles County.
• Represent the State in criminal cases.
• Litigate assigned cases, provide discovery, summonsing, and interviewing witnesses.
• Prepare pleadings, litigate pre-trial motions, jury/bench trials, sentencing hearings, and post-conviction hearings.
