McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer in the Southern region. This hands-on role supports growth toward project management, with relocation possible to support projects out of state for a period of time.

The position offers exposure to project controls, communications, and the technical aspects of constructing projects. Ideal candidates are current seniors or recent graduates with a relevant degree and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Construction Management or Engineering is required.
• General knowledge of construction principles and practices is required.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team environment are required.
• Must be geographically mobile and able to relocate within the region.
• Construction internship or related construction experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• General contract and subcontract administration.
• Monitor and document job-site safety and accident prevention.
• Construction scheduling and progress tracking.
• Procurement and expediting of materials and equipment.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and piping systems.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for coordination.
• Project cost review, reporting, and cost accounting.
• Review subcontractor payment applications.
• Participate in project coordination meetings and documentation.
• Supervise/subcontractor field installations and coordination.
• Review and negotiate change proposal pricing from subs and for self-performed work.
• Change order documentation and cost reporting.
• Research construction means, methods, and equipment options.
• Maintain as-built plans and ensure quality control and closeout.

This job posting is intended for early career professionals with approximately one year or less of industry work experience. Current seniors enrolled in a 4 year college degree program who are graduating within one year are also encouraged to apply.

POSITION SUMMARY

TheProject Engineers position establishes the fundamental principles for an individuals growth and success within McCarthy. In this hands-on role, you will gain experience with project controls and communications as well as get exposure to the technical aspects of constructing a project. This position is the initial step in developing the managerial and communication skills for project management.

Please note: This position will be based in the Southern region but may require relocation to support projects out of state for a certain period of time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• General Contract and Subcontract administration
• Monitor/document job-site safety and accident prevention
• Construction scheduling
• Procurement and expediting of material and equipment
• Mechanical, electrical and piping systems coordination
• Shop drawing/submittal review and coordination
• Project cost review, reporting, updating and accounting
• Review of subcontractor applications for payment
• Participation in/documentation of project coordination meetings
• Supervision/coordination of subcontractors field installations
• Review/negotiate change proposal pricing from subcontractors and prepare change proposal pricing for self-performed work
• Change order documentation and associated cost reporting and maintenance
• Research and suggest options on construction means, methods and equipment
• Maintenance of As-Built plans
• Quality control and project closeout
