Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Design Group is seeking an Entry-Level Process Engineer to contribute to capital projects from process design to start-up and installation support. You will join a large team across 45 US offices, collaborating on line layouts, P&IDs, and equipment procurement while developing leadership skills in a growth-focused environment.

The role emphasizes packaging automation, client relationships, and cross-functional collaboration within a manufacturing technology setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in mechanical or chemical engineering or a related technical degree.
• Ability to organize and execute multiple project responsibilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical skills and understanding of project management fundamentals.
• Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of project execution including line layout engineering, mechanical design, vendor/contractor management, equipment procurement, schedule management, project finances, site management, and start-up and installation support.
• Manage project timelines, finances, and coordination with clients/vendors to ensure successful delivery.
• Design process flow diagrams and piping & instrument diagrams (P&IDs) and create specifications for process equipment and installation.
• Complete basic piping system design including pump sizing, mass and heat balances, and instrumentation/controls.
• Maintain and grow client relationships and integrate packaging automation lines into projects.
• Lead project teams and manage procurement of equipment and materials.
• Lead day-to-day project activities with integrity and a customer-focused mindset.

Position Overview

Design Group-part of Barry-Wehmiller is a fully integrated firm specializing in architecture, engineering, and manufacturing technology. As an Entry-Level Process Engineer, you will work on capital projects ranging from process design and equipment procurement to start-up and installation support. You'll join a team of over 1,500 professionals across 45 US offices in an environment that values integrity, continuous growth, and leadership development.

Key Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for all aspects of project execution including line layout engineering, mechanical design, vendor/contractor management, equipment procurement, schedule management, project finances, site management, and start-up & installation support
• Conduct yourself with integrity in pursuit of individual and business goals

• Design process flow diagrams and piping & instrument diagrams (P&IDs)
• Create specifications for process equipment and installation
• Complete basic piping system design including pump sizing, mass & heat balances, functional & installation specifications, and instrumentation & controls

• Convert information into project documentation and manage integration of packaging automation lines

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD
• Willingness to travel for project requirements including installation, start-up activities, meetings, trainings, seminars, and conventions
• Bachelor of Science in mechanical or chemical engineering, or a related technical degree

Preferred Qualifications

• Co-op or project experience with packaging lines, automation, or manufacturing applications
• Co-op or project experience in the food, dairy, high-speed beverage/brewery, pharmaceutical, or consumer products environments
