Job summary

Leader Ambulance in Southern California is seeking a Paint Prep / Bodyworker to prepare vehicles for final paint, perform sanding, body work, and buffing to achieve a quality surface. You will sand, mask, and de-dent vehicles while maintaining safety and QA standards.

The role requires 3–5+ years in Paint Prep (Bodyworker III) with ability to operate sanders, grinders, and paint systems. OSHA/EPA knowledge is expected; physical demands include lifting and working in a noisy environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions and memos in English.
• Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
• Ability to recognize the quality expected and reproduce it.
• Ability to run dual-action sanders, grinders, and miscellaneous hand tools.
• Ability to spray primers with an air paint system.
• Must retain information taught about chemicals and usage.
• Able to learn how to mix primers and other paint products.
• General knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.

Responsibilities

• Seal seams and prepare products for painting.
• Wipe areas with a degreaser solvent before painting.
• Sand and scuff areas with prior paint defects.
• Grind welds and fill with body filler.
• Mask edges and paint areas not required.
• Remove tape and paper after painting and drying.
• Fill dents and gouges in metal.
• Air file, sand mix, and apply body filler.
• Maintain equipment and paint guns.
• Use chemicals safely per criteria.
• Laminate fiberglass for repairs or production as needed.
• Meet QA and QC standards for each task.
• Operate with minimal supervision and high attention to detail.
• Promote Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
• Follow company conduct and attendance rules.
• Perform other duties as requested.
