Qualifications

• One year of work experience demonstrating arithmetic, including multiplication and division, and the ability to read, understand, and explain rules and regulations.
• Ability to read, understand, and explain rules and regulations; conduct inspections or investigations for noncompliance.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
• Must possess State’s Measuremaster License or be able to obtain within 6 months of probation.
• Lifting up to 40 pounds unassisted; up to 50 pounds with assistance or equipment.

Responsibilities

• Enforce laws related to commercial vehicles including regulations on registration, safety, and weight limits.
• Conduct investigations, inspections, and compliance surveys; perform related duties as assigned.
• Entry level Motor Carrier Safety Officer I with formal and on-the-job training in safety rules, inspection practices, and accident investigation techniques.
