Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor seeks a Metals Equipment Engineer to monitor wafer fabrication equipment, qualify new tools, and coordinate maintenance-driven downtime while analyzing process data to drive decisions. You will implement in-line changes, revise SOPs, and lead cost-reduction initiatives in a 24x7 FAB environment.

The role requires degree in engineering/science, strong data skills (Python, Spotfire/JMP/Matlab), and the ability to work in a cleanroom with PPE.

Qualifications

BS or MS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or CS; new grads require GPA 3.0+
Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent
Understanding of statistical methods and data analysis
Change Point Management experience and Lean/TPS/5S principles
Strong problem solving skills (8D, 7-step) and data analysis software experience
Ability to work in cleanroom environment and lift 35 lbs, wear PPE
Ability to work 24x7 shift duties and discern audible alarms

Responsibilities

Monitor wafer fabrication equipment and respond to issues
Qualify new manufacturing equipment
Coordinate scheduling of equipment qualifications and downtime
Use software to analyze data and identify trends for processing decisions
Make adjustments when equipment parameters exceed limits and monitor tooling after maintenance
Execute in-line process/equipment changes (CPM)
Communicate technical information within department through presentations
Continuously revise SOPs and develop improved processes
Monitor operations costs and pursue cost-reduction projects
