Job summary

Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) seeks a Certified Medical Assistant 1 for CAMC Primary Care in Charleston at the Primary Care Building. The role provides essential front-line support to health care providers, handles patient registration, discharge, and related clerical tasks to keep patient flow smooth.

The CMA will take vital signs, collect specimens, perform basic in-clinic testing, assist with exams and minor procedures, schedule appointments, and help maintain accurate patient records

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Post-high school diploma or certificate program is required.
• CMA or RMA certification and BLS are required

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical support to providers, patients and staff to expedite patient flow, telephone communications and quality patient care.
• Greet and register patients and explain policies; discharge patients and manage related charges.
• Take vital signs, collect specimens for reference lab testing and perform basic in-clinic testing.
• Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures and maintain accurate patient records and billing.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage communications regarding patient accounts.
