Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical/ Chemical Engineer in Charlotte, NC to apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant projects. You will prepare calculations and reports, size equipment, and support system engineering and design reviews.

Some travel to client sites and vendors may be required. Essential qualifications include a BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, with ABET accreditation preferred.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, power engineering, turbomachinery, thermal systems, and energy conversion.
• Knowledge of applying mechanical engineering principles to project design and the production of technical plans and drawings.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications and strong written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics to power plant engineering projects.
• Prepare calculations, specifications, and technical reports to support client recommendations and reviews.
• Conduct equipment sizing, optimization evaluation, and selection in response to project needs.
• Support project teams with system engineering and the design, modification, and analysis of mechanical systems.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site verification as needed.
