Job summary

Transtar LLC in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, is seeking an entry-level Train Service position within the Union Railroad Company. You will operate locomotives to move raw materials and finished products, and coordinate with yard crews.

The role requires working any shift, day or night, in all weather, and complying with railroad safety rules. A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year outdoor work experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Full-time position, any shift, 24/7 including holidays.
• Adherence to safety procedures and use of PPE at all times.
• Punctuality, attendance and ability to work in a team.
• Must pass assessment test(s).

Responsibilities

• Communicate via radio with crew and Yard Office regarding work to be performed.
• Observe signals in yard according to railroad rules and regulations.
• Operate track switches as needed.
• Perform procedures to couple/uncouple rail cars.
• Push/pull drawhead to align for railcar coupling.
• Apply hand brakes on rail cars not in active use.
• Maintain cleanliness of locomotive cab.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and walk extended distances.
