Job summary

The Minnesota Office of the State Auditor invites applications for an entry-level Local Government Auditor in Marshall. This role supports audits of Minnesota local governments, assessing the reliability of financial statements and compliance with laws and federal requirements.

Responsibilities include evaluating internal controls, conducting compliance tests, analyzing transactions, and documenting audit evidence. Travel up to 10% may be required; interviews will be in Marshall.

Qualifications

• CPA exam completed or in progress
• GPA 3.0+ in accounting courses and overall
• Auditing internship experience preferred
• Microsoft Office experience desired
• Strong written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Document, test, and evaluate internal controls
• Perform legal compliance testing
• Perform federal grant and compliance testing
• Analyze transactions and financial activities
• Test accuracy and determine data reliability
• Document audit evidence in work papers
• Develop findings
