Job summary

Kent Companies seeks an entry-level laborer to support commercial concrete projects, learning on the job while contributing to cleanliness, material handling, formwork setup, shoring, and concrete placement.

You will work outdoors and indoors, with safety as a top priority, wearing PPE and communicating with the crew. No prior experience is required, but a driver's license and reliable transportation are needed to access multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • Safely perform general labor tasks on concrete construction sites using power and hand tools.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation to workplace locations.
  • Ability to pass a background check related to driving.
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

  • Safely perform general labor tasks on concrete construction sites, including using power and common hand tools.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hard hat, high-visibility apparel, and additional protection as required by the task.
  • Moving materials by hand, preparing for concrete placement, installation of shoring, and maintaining clean, well-organized job sites.
  • Work in a variable environment, both indoors and outdoors. When required, work during inclement weather, including extreme heat/cold.
  • Communicate effectively with your crew lead, foreman, and superintendent on safety, ask questions, and problem-solve.

Job description

The entry-level laborer has limited or no experience in commercial concrete construction yet brings an excellent attitude with a willingness to learn, work hard, and improve their skills. This role supports all functions of commercial concrete projects through housekeeping, toting materials, setting formwork, shoring, and placing concrete. Entry-level laborers are exposed to several main types of commercial concrete work, including sub-structures, elevated structures, parking ramps, and tilt, to name a few. These structures allow the entry-level laborer to understand footings, mass footings, walls, columns, shoring, decking, formwork systems, gang forms, reinforcing, and post-tension systems. Communicating effectively with supervisors, teammates, and other trades is expected as well as asking questions to increase growth and development.
