Job summary

BW Design Group seeks an instrumentation and controls engineer to design and implement PLC/SCADA solutions across manufacturing sectors, collaborating with engineers and clients to ensure reliable, safe process control.

You will develop control system designs, documentation, and optimization strategies while supporting project delivery and client satisfaction. BS in engineering and PLC experience required; Rockwell familiarity preferred and some travel may be necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in an engineering field relevant to controls and instrumentation.
  • Experience with PLC programming, automation, instrumentation, or process control.
  • Understanding of process systems, instrumentation, wiring diagrams, and network concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and design control systems for manufacturing clients in food & beverage, consumer health, life sciences, or advanced technology sectors.
  • Support control systems and PLC/SCADA interfaces to meet safety and optimization requirements.
  • Conduct system and facility engineering assessments to support project planning and execution.
  • Develop engineering solutions for equipment optimization and process improvement.
  • Design systems that monitor and control process variables (pressure, temperature, humidity, flow).
  • Assist in root cause analysis and identify practical control system improvements.
  • Document requirements for instrumentation equipment and related control components.
  • Collaborate with design teams and client representatives for coordinated project delivery.

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll be responsible for supporting instrumentation and controls engineering solutions for clients in food and beverage, consumer health, life science, and advanced technology sectors. You'll work closely with controls engineers, project teams, technical specialists, and client representatives to design, document, and support PLC, SCADA, instrumentation, and process control systems. This position plays an important role in helping clients improve safety, reliability, and performance while giving you hands‑on experience with complex control system applications.

  • Develop and design control systems for manufacturing clients in food and beverage, consumer health, life science, or advanced technology sectors
  • Support engineering solutions for control systems and PLC or SCADA interface systems that meet client safety and optimization requirements
  • Conduct system and facility engineering job walk assessments to support project planning and execution
  • Develop engineering solutions for equipment optimization and process improvement
  • Design systems that monitor and control process variables such as pressure, temperature, humidity, and flow in manufacturing environments
  • Support root cause failure analysis and assist in identifying practical control system improvements
  • Document process requirements for instrumentation equipment and related control system components
  • Interface with engineering design team members and client representatives to support coordinated project delivery
  • Build technical experience with process systems, instrumentation, device selection, networking concepts, and electrical or process diagrams
  • Strengthen client and team relationships through responsive project support and consistent technical execution
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, or an equivalent technical degree
  • Academic, internship, co‑op, or project experience with PLC programming, automation, instrumentation, process control, or related engineering applications
  • Fundamental understanding of process systems, instrumentation, device selection, networking concepts, and electrical or process diagrams, including P&IDs or wiring diagrams
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute multiple project responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to travel for project requirements, including installation, start‑up activities, meetings, trainings, and industry seminars
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to Rockwell Automation hardware and software or similar industrial control platforms
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and process systems through coursework, laboratory experience, or academic projects
  • EIT certification
Compensation

The approximate pay range for this position is $XX,XXX–$XX,XXX. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as geographic location of the position.
