Job summary

The City of Bentonville is seeking an entry-level Heavy Equipment Operator I to operate a range of heavy machinery in support of city services. You will perform routine operations, follow department SOPs, and work with public and staff in a safe, efficient manner.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with two years of related experience or training, or the equivalent combined education/experience. A valid driver’s license is required with CDL expected within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand simple instructions, memos, and short correspondence.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems with concrete variables.
• Math skills for basic arithmetic with money, weight, volume, and distance.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment per SOPs and assigned department requirements.
• Attach, maneuver, and control attachments to tractors and equipment.
• Inspect equipment, report defects, and perform minor repairs as needed.
• Work on-call as scheduled and adhere to safety and public interaction standards.
