Job summary

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of State Police seeks an Identification Technician I in Sudbury to perform fingerprint processing, AFIS data entry, records review and clerical duties during a 12-month training period.

This full-time, day shift position requires pre-employment screening including a background check and drug test; incumbents may be assigned to emergency duties and shift bidding after training.

Qualifications

• First consideration given to applicants who apply within the first 14 days.
• Minimum Entrance Requirements: None.
• Must have a valid Motor Vehicle Driver’s License at the level required for assignment.
• Extensive pre-employment screening including background investigation and drug test.
• Full-time schedule with Day shift during training; shift bidding possible after training.

Responsibilities

• Open records and distribute mail.
• Answer unit telephones and interact with the public and other criminal justice personnel.
• Operate AFIS workstation.
• Review records for accuracy of demographic data.
• Input ten-print data into AFIS.
• Prepare fingerprint cards for insertion into the fingerprint reader.
• Match SID to fingerprint cards and file cards as appropriate.
• Maintain logs relating to AFIS.
• Perform related office duties.
