Job summary

ECS Group of Companies (ECS) is hiring a CMT Field Technician for our Fort Myers team. No experience is required as you will be trained by experienced professionals to safely conduct tests on soils, aggregates, and concrete at project sites.

You’ll perform field activities under supervision, collect data, and communicate findings to project managers. The role offers paid training and potential certification opportunities such as OSHA 10 and state DOT programs.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
• Must have valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Must safely operate a motor vehicle and follow laws and policies.
• Willing to develop understanding of CMT principles and ASTM standards.
• OSHA 10 certification may be required.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Field Activities: observe, test, and sample soils, aggregates, and concrete on project sites under guidance of senior staff.
• Testing Procedures: perform routine field and laboratory tests per industry standards.
• Data Collection: compute results and assist with calculations and drafting as needed.
• Communication: coordinate with site contractors and project managers and report changes.
• Training and Development: receive ECS methodology training and document findings precisely.

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician to join our Fort Myers team and advance in a dynamic work environment. No prior experience is needed, as you'll work under the guidance of experienced professionals to learn to safely perform a variety of tasks.

Job Responsibilities

• Field Activities: Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials, including soils, aggregates, and concrete on construction materials testing project sites; Execute tasks based on project requirements under the guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers.
• Testing Procedures: Conduct routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance.
• Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspection; May assist with calculations, drafting, and other administrative duties as requested.
• Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers; Communicate changing site conditions and additional requested testing to supervisor; Attend project meetings as requested; Assist with organization of field equipment and notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed.
• Training and Development: Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing; Document findings with precision in accordance with accepted engineering practices.

• Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
• Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and applications, as well as ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, and radiation safety.
• OSHA 10 certification may be required.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.
