Job summary

The City of Chula Vista is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Worker I to perform routine manual tasks in maintenance, repair, and construction of streets, signs, sewers, and related structures. This part-time role is limited to 919 hours per fiscal year and pays hourly with no benefits.

Under supervision, you will operate tools and equipment, assist on site, follow safety procedures, and support more experienced staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write at a level necessary for job performance.
• Willingness to learn and follow proper work methods in maintenance, construction, and repair.
• Ability to operate and maintain hand and power tools and equipment related to assignment.
• Must possess a Class B driver's license with air brakes within six months of hire.
• Willingness to work overtime and outdoor in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine manual work in maintenance, repair, and construction of streets, signs, sewers, and related structures.
• Operate and maintain construction equipment and power tools; perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Fuel and lubricate vehicles; wash and clean assigned vehicles; observe safety methods.
