Job summary

APTIM is seeking motivated entry level engineers to join our Federal Fueling programs, delivering engineering and construction services for fueling facilities worldwide. You will apply critical thinking across planning, design, construction oversight and commissioning, with hands-on field interaction.

This role requires ABET-accredited BS in engineering, strong communication, US citizenship, travel 10-15%, and preferred FE/EIT and AutoCAD experience.

Qualifications

• US Citizen and able to pass a background check to access government facilities.
• FE and EIT candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and field data with an eye for constructability and compliance.
• Prepare scopes of work, specifications, drawings, material lists, estimates, calculations, work methods, and project reports with engineering rigor and field practicality.
• Complete RFIs, review submittals, and select materials, incorporating lessons from field coordination.
• Apply and uphold standards from API, NFPA, ASME, ASCE, ACI, and other governing bodies; ensure designs and field execution align with best practices.
• Observe construction activities and verify compliance with codes, standards, company procedures, and contract requirements.
• Work directly with subcontractors to clarify requirements, resolve field challenges, and maintain alignment with project objectives.
• Organize and manage required documents to support construction activities and regulatory requirements.
• Gather productivity data for pipeline installation, earthwork, concrete work, and other construction activities to support estimating and planning.

APTIM is seeking motivated and proactive entry level engineers to join our team of engineering professionals serving our Federal Fueling programs.

APTIM's Federal Fueling programs provide engineering and construction services for aviation and ground products fueling facilities which include bulk storage tanks, fueling piers, pipeline systems, pumphouses, truck loading/offloading terminals, and aircraft direct refueling facilities.

Engineers in this role apply critical thinking and practical field awareness across all phases of project execution including initial planning, procurement support, design development, construction oversight, and commissioning. Candidates should bring not only strong analytical skills but also hands-on familiarity with construction environments, including direct interaction with subcontractors, field crews, and multidisciplinary project teams.

This position often involves managing multiple concurrent projects, balancing office-based engineering tasks with domestic and international field assignments as needed. Typical international locations include Europe, Japan, Guam, Diego Garcia, and other Pacific Island sites. The role offers significant opportunities for professional growth while solving complex engineering and construction challenges.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Review and interpret specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and field-collected data with an experienced eye for constructability and compliance.
• Prepare scopes of work, specifications, drawings, material lists, estimates, calculations, work methods, and project reports with attention to both engineering rigor and field practicality.
• Complete requests for information (RFIs), review submittals, and select materials, incorporating lessons learned from prior field or subcontractor coordination.
• Apply and uphold standards from American Petroleum Institute, National Fire Protection Agency, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, American Concrete Institute, and other governing bodies, ensuring designs and field execution align with best practices.
• Observe construction activities and verify compliance with federal, state, and local codes, industry standards, company procedures, and contractual requirements - leveraging prior field experience to identify issues early.
• Work directly with subcontractors to clarify technical requirements, resolve field challenges, and maintain alignment with project objectives.
• Organize and manage required documents to support successful completion of construction activities and regulatory requirements.
• Gather productivity data for pipeline installation, earthwork, concrete work, and other construction activities to support estimating and planning efforts

Basic Qualifications:

• BS Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background check to gain access to government facilities

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000 Per Year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
