Job summary

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions is seeking entry-level engineers for the Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP) at the Savannah River Site. You will learn SRNS and Department/Facility systems, assist senior engineers, and perform tasks across multiple facility operations including design development and maintenance.

Job Family Description

Engineering roles perform engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments. They may design and scale up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment and tests manufactured products to maintain quality. They may plan, design, and estimate time and cost and oversees construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components. They analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures. They develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide advice on issues within the engineering field.

Discipline Description

Engineering – Multidiscipline personnel typically own a multidiscipline engineering related work scope. Responsibilities are within the Engineering Function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include

The Engineering Organization is looking for entry level engineers to develop conventional solutions to technical task objectives within various SRNS facility engineering organizations. Engineers will:

  • Learn SRNS and specific Department/Facility systems and requirements for accomplishing tasks.
  • Assist more senior technical personnel in performing related activities in more complex tasks.
  • Perform the following tasks relative to specific facility operations:
Following Types Of Systems Among Others
  • Nuclear Chemical and Industrial Unit Operations
  • Industrial Mechanical systems (Nuclear and Non-nuclear HVAC, Rotating Equipment)
  • Instrumentation and Control Systems
  • Utilities (Power Distribution, Steam, Water Compressed Gases)
  • Civil/Structural (Buildings, Roads, Bridges, Dams)
  • Fire Protection Systems
  • Specific day to day tasks may include:
  • Work directly with operations and maintenance personnel to maintain system operability
  • System Configuration Control to include minor design development, component replacement, facility walkdowns, drawing reviews/updates, procedure development/review/approval, preventive maintenance identification
  • Usage of Federal/National Codes and Standards
  • Work package/system maintenance review and approval
  • Work with Design or Project Management organizations on large scale designs and projects

Operational Technology Engineering is looking for Engineers with interest in Process Systems, Process Controls, Web App Development, and Simulation & Modeling

Recent college graduates will initially be placed in the Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP). They will receive one-on-one career development assistance from seasoned professionals from different backgrounds and will be collocated with other new hires allowing for peer group connection. They will begin their technical training as well as be given project assignments that will provide them with exposure to different facilities and site work processes.

Required Qualifications

P1:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or relevant field
  • Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

P2:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
