Job summary

Weeks Marine, Inc. is seeking an Entry Level Field Engineer for its marine dredging division in the Gulf Coast region. The role focuses on project layout, surveying, production guidance, monitoring, and quality control to support dredging operations.

The position requires reading plans, collecting and processing hydrographic/topographic data, and coordinating with Project Engineers. Travel and long hours are expected as part of this demanding, hands-on role.

Qualifications

• Entry Level Position for Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field of study
• 1-3 years’ experience in the dredging or survey industry in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
• Ability to be trained to utilize current surveying equipment and techniques
• Ability to accurately read contract drawings
• Ability to perform earthwork volume computations
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Trimble, and Hypack software preferred
• Ability to work 84-hour work week. 19 days on, 9 days off
• Ability to live aboard vessel for full rotation
• Willingness and ability to travel required

• Dredge cut and fill planning and management
• Provide vessel positioning to ensure dredging within permit limits
• Coordinate survey activities with the Project Engineer to meet schedule
• Process hydrographic and topographic data to calculate material volumes
• Learn dredge production using production tools and analysis programs
• Provide dredge production guidance, monitoring, and reporting
• Survey subcontractor management and quality control of dredging
