Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Designer to join our Power Distribution Engineering team. This role focuses on design for overhead and underground electric distribution systems within the Power Sector.

You will perform design calculations, create drawings and specifications with CAD and GIS tools, and manage data and documentation. Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project managers to deliver compliant, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

High school diploma required.
Associate degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering preferred.
Entry-level with an Associate’s degree in engineering or technical field.
1+ years electric utility or telecommunications experience preferred.
Familiarity with NESC preferred.
Proficient with engineering software and AutoCAD; MS Office skills desired.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed engineering and design for overhead and underground electric distribution systems; prepare drawings, specs, and cost estimates.
Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project managers in a professional office environment.
Develop knowledge of NESC, standards, and industry practices as they relate to distribution design.
Understand design feasibility, constructability, materials selection, and project economics for electric distribution.
Maintain production schedules and project records per guidelines.
Prepare and modify electrical and roadway drawings using CAD, GIS, and related tools.
Provide desktop-based technical support for distribution planning and analyses.
Input, analyze, and manage project data in systems and databases.
Develop knowledge of telephone, cable, and other facilities for joint-use coordination.
Communicate technical information clearly in reports and emails; present ideas effectively.
