Job summary

Kleinfelder in Austin is seeking a Construction Materials Field Technician. No experience is required as we provide comprehensive training and advancement opportunities through certification programs.

As a Field Technician, you will perform quality control tests, read construction plans, and prepare daily reports while collaborating with clients, contractors, and design professionals. Some travel and night work may be required.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record and ability to pass drug test.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Routine quality control test procedures including concrete and nuclear moisture/density testing.
• Reading and understanding applicable construction plans and specifications.
• Preparation and submission of daily reports.
• Interact with clients, contractors, and other design professionals.
• Attendance at job site related meetings.
• Testing in soils and construction materials testing laboratories.
• Opportunity for continuing education and role-specific certification.

What You'll Do

As a Construction Materials Field Technician, your exposure to a wide variety of responsibilities may include but not be limited to:

• Routine quality control test procedures including concrete and nuclear moisture / density testing
• Becoming familiar with reading and understanding applicable construction plans and specifications
• Preparation and submission of daily reports
• Interact with clients, contractors, and other design professionals
• Attendance at job site related meetings
• Performance of testing in our soils and construction materials testing laboratories
• Opportunity for continuing education and role‑specific certification.
• This position may require occasional travel and/or night work based on project locations, client needs, and/or active project assignments.

Desired Qualifications

NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - Comprehensive training is provided, making this position an excellent entry point into the construction materials testing industry. Kleinfelder offers acertification incentive program, including opportunities for additional compensation after obtaining industry certifications.

• Authorization to work in the United States
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to pass drug test.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member, maintain composure, and work effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., work outdoors in varying weather conditions, traverse uneven terrain, and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Able to use a company provided laptop or iPad and a working knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Construction-related training or technical training desirable
• Certifications in Concrete and Soil desirable
