Job summary

The City Attorney’s Office of City and County of Denver seeks an unlimited Entry Assistant City Attorney for the PACE Section to prosecute municipal offenses and support code enforcement. You will work with a dynamic prosecution team using technology to keep the Denver community safe.

Ideal candidates will have JD or LLB, Colorado license by hire date or expectations, strong oral and written skills, and a commitment to public service.

Qualifications

• Education: JD or LLB required; Colorado bar by hire date or anticipated
• Experience: None required
• License/Certifications: Colorado bar by hire date or reasonable expectation
• Licenses must be kept current as a condition of employment

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and prepare cases for all stages of criminal prosecution under supervision
• Work collaboratively with paralegals and victim advocates to ensure cases are properly prepared and victim-centric
• Draft appropriate motions and respond to motions in a professional manner
• Draft and respond to appeals
• Provide City agencies with legal advice
• Represent City agencies during administrative hearings; interpret policy, ordinances and charter requirements
• Assist other attorneys with research and related activities
• Provide agencies with formal legal opinions
• Draft proposed ordinances
