Job summary

Austin Powder in Midway, TN, is seeking an Entry-Level Operator to perform chemical manufacturing tasks for anhydrous ammonia, nitric acid, ammonia nitrate solution, and emulsion. You will load/unload trucks and railcars, monitor processes with DCS/local controls, record readings, sample products, and collaborate with other departments to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency.

Qualifications

Hazard recognition and safety awareness are required.
Ability to wear and work in PPE and follow safety protocols.
Basic math skills are required for measurements and calculations.
Able to read and comprehend operating procedures and batch sheets.

Responsibilities

Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the plant.
Load and unload trucks and railcars.
Monitor chemical processes using DCS, local controls, or semi-automatic equipment.
Record process conditions, test results, and instrument readings.
Conduct sampling to ensure quality and standards are met.
Report safety, efficiency, and quality issues to other departments.
Maintain safe work areas and assist with maintenance tasks.
Oversee railcar staging in the railyard and ensure proper DOT placards.
Gain experience to advance into a Utility Operator role.
Perform other duties as assigned.
