Job summary

The University of Washington Police Department (UWPD) is seeking an Entry-Level Campus Police Officer to join the Seattle campus team, reporting to the Chief of Police and serving a diverse campus community by enforcing laws, protecting people and property, and engaging in community policing.

The role offers a $2,500 sign-on bonus for eligible entry-level officers and requires completing Public Safety Testing (PST) and a Personal History Statement to move forward in the selection process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least twenty-one years of age at Police Academy completion.
• Valid driver’s license.
• No prior felony convictions.

Responsibilities

• Patrol designated area enforcing laws and campus regulations.
• Inspect buildings for trespassers and safety issues.
• Direct and regulate traffic; investigate incidents; testify in court.
• Operate department communications equipment and file reports.
• Prevent or disperse illegal gatherings and maintain surveillance.
• Issue citations and book suspects when appropriate.
• Assist other law enforcement agencies during emergencies.
