Job summary

Blood Bank of Alaska in Anchorage is seeking an entry-level position to prepare blood components in a laboratory manufacturing environment and ship blood to hospital customers. This full-time role supports 24/7 coverage to meet Alaska’s hospital demands.

You will follow SOPs, maintain quality control, and provide courteous service to internal and external customers, including phone orders and courier coordination. HS diploma required; prior regulated-environment experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Follow written procedures; writing must be legible and recording of product information must be exact.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and computer skills; ability to prioritize workflow to optimize products manufactured.
• Must be able to maintain a calm demeanor when stressed; make responsible decisions and obtain assistance if needed.
• Must maintain a high standard for conscientious, courteous, and enthusiastic service to internal and external customers, and the public in general.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time while performing duties; be able to perform repetitive motions and recording.
• Able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Preparing blood components from whole blood following standard operating procedure.
• Work with a team to ensure 24/7/365 coverage in meeting the blood needs for multiple hospitals throughout Alaska.
• Providing exceptional customer service including answering the phones, documenting orders, selecting appropriate products, packing, shipping, and receiving blood products to and from customers in Alaska and the lower 48.
• Maintaining and performing quality control of procedures and equipment including temperature monitoring, thermometer checks, alarm checks, and shipping container validation.
