Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong aptitude in analyzing data, creating visualizations, and developing clear written reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and collects raw data, organizes, analyzes and provides review of the data for use in projects and for further analysis.
  • Performs project analysis using technical guidance and software.
  • Assists project team members with development of maps, exhibits, materials, and reporting.
  • Conducts research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning.
  • Assists in developing conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects.
  • Prepares and produces plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation projects.
  • Assists in stakeholder and public participation processes.
  • Maintains records and files related to specific projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

HNTB’s National Aviation Planning + Environmental Planning Practice is currently seeking exceptionally qualified candidates for an Entry Level Aviation Planner position. Successful candidate(s) will demonstrate an enthusiasm for aviation, solid critical thinking skills, and a desire to explore the multi-disciplinary workstreams that shape the airports of tomorrow.

Positions are available in either our Boston, MA or San Francisco, CA offices.

On our team, we serve airport owners and airline clients to carry out a wide variety of analyses spanning multiple disciplines: landside, terminal, airside, airspace, environmental, land use, and financial/advisory. What You’ll Do:
  • Researches and collects raw data, organizes, analyzes and provides review of the data for use in projects and for further analysis.

  • Assists project team members with various support tasks such as development of maps, exhibits, presentation materials, and reporting.
  • Conducts research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning.
  • Assists in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects
  • Performs tasks related to the preparation and production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
  • Assists in stakeholder and public participation process.
  • Maintains records, collections and files related to specific projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field
What You’ll Bring:
  • Strong aptitude in analyzing data, creating supporting visualizations, and developing clear written reports and presentations for a broad range of audiences
  • Motivation to ask questions, flag challenges, and anticipate solutions.
What We Prefer:
  • Enthusiasm for solving aviation-themed challenges
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Aviation Management, Urban Planning, or related field. We welcome non-traditional majors with technical prowess.
  • Prior professional experience at airports, airlines, or transportation authorities
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
  • Strong preference for competency with AutoCAD, design programs such as Rhinoceros, Revit, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, or data analysis languages such as Python or R.

The approximate pay range for the California San Francisco Bay Area is $74,202.07 - $111,303.10. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.

The approximate pay range for Massachusetts is $71,233.98 - $106,850.97. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position based on all selected locations within the state at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
