Job summary

Raleigh Recovery Center in Raleigh, NC seeks a Counselor I to provide treatment and support for clients recovering from addictions and related mental health issues. Responsibilities include client assessments, treatment planning, group/individual/family sessions, aftercare planning, and liaison work with insurers.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related field.
• Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
• Professional experience is not required, but internship/practicum training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client assessments to identify history, current presentation, problem areas, ongoing clinical need for treatment and risk assessment.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the program.
• Participate in treatment planning and progress reviews; document as required.
• Conduct group, individual or family counseling sessions using evidence-supported treatment modalities; document as required.
• Provide client and family education regarding substance abuse/psychiatric problems.
• Ensure timely, clear documentation of client care, treatment and incidents.
• Provide crisis intervention to clients and seek consultation as appropriate.
• Plan and document aftercare for assigned clients.
• Liaise with insurance carriers and provide case management.
• Deliver educational workshops in hospital and community settings.
