Job description

Osanni Bio is a development-stage therapeutics platform, headquartered in San Francisco, California. We are creative and agile innovators, relentlessly curious about finding new ways to target the biology behind diseases with the greatest unmet need and determined to do something about it.

At the center of Osanni is its innovation engine, which is optimized for discovering new scientific insights, designing novel drug concepts, and efficiently advancing programs to a meaningful proof-of-concept. Once a program is sufficiently de-risked, it graduates into its ecosystem of affiliate companies, which are equipped with the dedicated focus, specialized talent and support necessary to scale. Osanni's architecture marries the scientific depth and operational power of a centralized platform with the speed, agility and accountability of independent companies. The result: an opportunity to create and deliver more transformative medicines.

We hold patients and the physicians who care for them as our North Star. It guides our purpose, sharpens our decision-making, and defines our impact. Osanni is currently advancing programs in ophthalmology, cardiology and beyond. We are building a highly skilled team, passionate about having an impact on human health. Be part of creating an organization where people enjoy their work and their colleagues, are valued for their individuality, and can't imagine working anywhere else.

This role is based in our San Francisco, CA headquarters office.

About the Role:

Osanni Bio is creating a new archetype of internal venture leadership. The Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) is a founder-minded, strategic operator responsible for leading select pipeline programs as if each were an independent company: the internal GM of a set of high-conviction ventures nested within Osanni's hub-and-spoke model. The EIR owns program strategy, drives cross-functional teams, shepherds programs through critical scientific and operational milestones, and builds the investment narratives that attract capital to each program. This role reports into the CBO, is highly visible across the organization, and is critical for transforming early-stage ideas into our future affiliate companies.

This role is purpose-built for a seasoned program team leader with entrepreneurial instincts, or an operator who has led a venture from early-stage concept to proof-of-concept or financing. The ideal candidate thrives without a script, leads by conviction, and knows how to inspire an indirect team while holding them accountable, bringing sound judgment, adaptability, and comfort operating both strategically and hands-on in Osanni's fast-paced, evolving environment.

What You Will Do:
  • Act as the de facto venture entrepreneur for each assigned program, owning strategy, execution, and program outcomes.
  • Lead cross-functional program teams (science, CMC, clinical, regulatory, commercial, finance, legal) with the clarity and conviction of a founder, not a coordinator.
  • Ensure lean-running programs are fully resourced by identifying and engaging subject matter experts as needed to fill expertise and execution gaps and optimally advance programs.
  • Set the strategic direction for each program, including target product profiles, indication prioritization, development sequencing, and go/no-go criteria.
  • Drive integrated program plans, timelines, and budgets; proactively identify risks and design contingencies before they become crises.
  • Champion program advancement through Osanni's internal governance, stage-gates, and leadership reviews with well-reasoned, data-driven recommendations.
Investment Narrative & Capital Formation
  • Build compelling, investor-grade pitch decks and investment theses for each program, distilling complex biology and development logic into clear, differentiated value propositions accessible to both scientific and financial audiences.
  • Drive the creation of strategic optionality for each program: internal advancement, external financing, spin-out, or partnership.
Ecosystem & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Cultivate and leverage a network of KOLs, clinical thought leaders, scientific advisors, and industry experts to stress-test program assumptions and accelerate decision-making.
  • Engage scientific advisory boards and key opinion leaders to access frontier knowledge and strengthen program credibility.
  • Serve as the primary interface between each program's cross-functional team and Osanni's central platform, ensuring smooth resource coordination within the hub-and-spoke model.
Organizational Impact
  • Contribute to the cultural DNA of Osanni, modeling entrepreneurial urgency, scientific rigor, and collaborative accountability.
  • Work as a thought partner to the executive leadership team to continuously sharpen how Osanni builds, funds, and scales programs.
  • Introduce creative, non-conventional approaches to development and resourcing that can serve as models for the broader Osanni portfolio.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on time, while performing other related duties as required.
What You Bring:
  • Advanced degree required: MD, PhD, MD/PhD, or MBA with deep domain immersion in life sciences; biodesign training a plus.
  • 15+ years of experience in drug development, biotech venture creation, venture capital, senior commercial roles, or senior business development roles, with a substantial portion spent in entrepreneurial or company-building contexts.
  • Demonstrated success guiding strategy of early-stage programs through IND-enabling studies, Phase 1/2 clinical development, or milestone-based financing events.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams without relying on formal authority, influencing through credibility, clarity, and conviction.
  • Exceptional program management instincts: integrated timelines, budget discipline, risk anticipation, and milestone accountability.
  • Decisive and resourceful under ambiguity; energized by a blank page and able to build the map while moving.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate simultaneously across multiple high-stakes programs without losing strategic clarity or execution quality.
  • Ability to construct sophisticated, compelling investment narratives and pitch materials that translate scientific value into business logic investors and partners can act on.
  • Track record of successfully engaging external investors, pharma BD teams, or venture partners, with comfort at the negotiating table.
  • Strong financial modeling intuition; able to frame development costs, capital requirements, and value inflection points in a way that drives decisions.
  • Comfortable with the full vocabulary of venture creation: term sheets, program valuations, milestone structures, co-development arrangements, and spin-out mechanics.
  • Genuine scientific fluency across therapeutic areas and modalities; not intimidated by new biology, but energized by it.
  • Ability to synthesize complex, multi-domain scientific and clinical information and distill it into crisp, defensible strategic rationale.
  • Comfortable challenging existing dogma, retiring weak programs decisively, and advocating boldly for the ones worth fighting for.
  • Demonstrated comfort and skill leveraging AI tools to accelerate research synthesis, program planning, and communication.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to present credibly to senior scientific, executive, and investment audiences in a single meeting.
  • Strong interpersonal instincts: collaborative, low-ego, and capable of building trust quickly across organizational layers.

The expected base pay range for this position is $325,000 - $360,000 plus bonus and comprehensive benefits.
