Job summary

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES is seeking an OPS Laboratory Technician IV in a full-time OPS role in Florida. The incumbent will support literature curation, data management, and specimen preparation in entomology workflows.

The position requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and four years of lab experience in entomology or biology, with a valid driver license. Excellent attention to safety and meticulous record-keeping are essential.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or its equivalent and four (4) years of experience in entomology or a biological science laboratory; or College or vocational/technical training can substitute at the rate of 30 semester hours for the required experience and must include three courses in physical/natural sciences.
• Possession of a valid Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Routinely updates literature, host data, literature data, and taxonomic information for maintenance of ScaleNet.
• Data management and entry into specimen/databases; prepare data for migration to the database.
• Prepare samples for identification including slide mounting, preservation, labeling.
