Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Enterprise Network Engineer I to support the Edge wireless team in designing, building and operating the university's enterprise wireless network. You will assist with wireless designs, perform on-site surveys and provide customer-facing technical support for departmental customers.

The role offers a 40-hour week, flexible arrangements within the Austin Metro area, and up to three days in the office.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience.
Two years of experience supporting enterprise or campus network environments, including routing, switching and wireless.
Experience troubleshooting network faults and providing customer-facing technical support.
Current Class C operator driver license required, with driving history review prior to hire.

Responsibilities

Assist with plan, design, implementation and maintenance of the university's enterprise wireless network.
Troubleshoot wireless issues such as interference, roaming, authentication and client performance.
Perform onsite wireless surveys in classrooms, labs, housing and event spaces.
Assist senior engineers with wireless designs, document findings and recommend access point changes.
Provide escalation support for standard wireless design and troubleshooting, and after-hours on-call support.
