Position Purpose:

At The Home Depot, UX helps transform complex enterprise operations into intuitive, effective experiences. As a member of the User Experienceteam, you will help shape the systems, services, and workflows that power one of the world’s largest retailers.

We are seeking a service design focused UX Designer who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about improving experiences across interconnected teams, processes, and technologies. You bring a deep understanding of human-centered design, service design methodologies, and systems thinking, enabling you to uncover opportunities, connect user needs with business goals, and solve meaningful problems at scale.

In this role, you will partner closely with product managers,software engineers, researchers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to design end-to-end experiences that improve how associates and customers interact with our products and services. You will actively contribute to every stage of the design process, from framing problems to synthesizing research, mapping service ecosystems, and creating future-state experiences.

This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and doing the work. Whether developing service blueprints, journey maps, workflows, prototypes, or experience frameworks, you are energized by bringing clarity to ambiguity and translating complex systems into intuitive, actionable solutions. You are equally comfortable in facilitating alignment among stakeholders, exploring opportunities through research and design thinking, and delivering tangible artifacts that drive decision-making and meaningful outcomes.

Through curiosity, creativity, and a strong focus on the people behind the experience, you help shape enterprise solutions that are useful, usable, and impactful.

Key Responsibilities:
  • 15% - Coaching and Mentoring - Leads interview exercises, determine cultural and team fits of candidates and aligns needs of the organization. Helps UX Leadership align resources to products based on skillset and cultural fit. Coaches junior resources in UX activities and mentors UX resources for career development.
  • 45% - Delivery & Execution - Provides UX design artifacts, and tests usability of their assigned product. Leads data collection and synthesis. Drives delivery in product area. Oversees delivery of other designers.
  • 40% - Leads Planning and Strategy Activities to Align Design Patterns and Testing Methods - Clearly communicates & drives value of UX within the experience. Displays situational adaptability, is able to step in and drive change in products to better align with user needs or organizational goals. Has courage and organizational savvy to drive this change. Drives UX practice across experience, domain, or group of products. Partners with Product, Development, other UX resources and business stakeholders across products to align multiple experiences in a domain. Drives vision and purpose; Combines user research outputs with OGSMs of partners to clearly articulate the vision of their experience and drive alignment with partners in solutions across products and experiences.

Travel Requirements:
  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7-9 years of UX experience in an Enterprise or retail environment or a degree in related field
  • 7-9 years of experience working with agile software development teams
  • Desire to thrive in a fast-moving environment
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and self-manage complex projects
  • Experience bringing together multiple efforts into a cohesive end-to-end experience
  • Help with consistency and quality control across design work
  • Teach/Lead/Mentor junior contributors
  • Support implementing existing standards and modifications such as Brand Standards and templates
  • Provide back up and additional mentorship support to Manager as necessary
  • Span across multiple balanced teams to support designers
  • Provide hands on execution of deliverables through the Product Development lifecycle
  • Is available to attend Team ceremonies as back up support to UXD/SUXD and Manager
Minimum Education:
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
