Erias Ventures is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement complex software for enterprise systems. The role requires nine plus years in Java, OOP, and Linux, with experience in Spring, RESTful services, and microservices. This is a hybrid position with 2–3 days per week at the Columbia, MD office or Ft. Meade onsite.

Enterprise - Software Engineer - Java, OOP, Linux

Description We are seeking a Software Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex software capabilities for computer-based systems. Will work closely with other talented engineers to create software solutions that meet the needs of our clients. Clearance A current U.S. Government Security clearance is not requiredon day 1, but will be processed for one; U.S. citizenship required. Can also consider candidates with current Secret or TS level clearance.

Experience Nine plus (9+) years experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g. Spring, Guava) and a Bachelors in related field; seven (7) years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and thirteen (13) years relevant experience.

• Experience in designing enterprise APIs

• Experience in Microservices architecture
• Experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) paradigms
• Experience with the agile software lifecycle
• Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting
• Experience with the Linux operating system
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven)
• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 2-3 days (full time/8hrs day), per week at our Columbia, MD office or Ft. Meade onsite; flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed

Desired skills:

• Current U.S. Government clearance preferred
• Experience in cloud based technologies (AWS, Azure)
• Next-Gen Coding Agents: Proven use of AI tools (Claude Code, Gemini) in daily engineering workflows
• Agentic Feature Delivery: Using autonomous agents for multi-file implementation, refactoring, and automated testing
• Experience in distributed databases, NoSQL databases, full text-search engines (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr)
• Scripting experience is a huge plus
• Prior experience or familiarity with Big Data Platform (BDP)/JCRS-D, Data Lake/Warehouse is a plus
• Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites(e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.)
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required in this position as directed by the customer
