Job summary

Durham County Government is seeking a Risk Management Analyst to support the county's enterprise risk management program, manage the insurance portfolio, and assist with claims handling and risk mitigation efforts.

Work under general supervision reporting to the Risk Manager; essential functions include renewals, data analysis, COIs, and coordination with brokers, insurers, and legal counsel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, business/public administration, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in risk management, insurance administration, claims management, or related analytical field.
• Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Administer the County's insurance programs and renewals; coordinate with brokers and carriers.
• Analyze insurance data, loss history, and risk exposures to identify trends and mitigation strategies.
• Review contracts for insurance requirements and risk transfer provisions.
• Coordinate and monitor insurance claims and COIs; liaise with third-party administrators and legal counsel.
• Prepare risk reports for management, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
