Job summary

Truist Financial in Charlotte, NC seeks a governance and risk professional to lead enterprise governance materials systems of record, drive implementation of multi-level governance structures, and oversee inventory for governance materials.

You will analyze risk, prepare reports for risk committees, deliver trainings, and coordinate with business functions. 5+ years in financial services risk, strong communication, and IT/system administration experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, or Communications or equivalent education and related training.
  • 5+ years in financial services or risk management.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management across functions.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and facilitation.
  • Proven planning, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office).

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultative leadership and develop relationships for governance materials systems.
  • Maintain and develop the governance system through vendor management, user assistance, QA, and system administration.
  • Support risk governance reporting to business functions and risk committees.
  • Assist in design and implementation of risk-based governance frameworks and processes.
  • Identify and monitor risk governance exceptions and trends across users for remediation.
  • Develop and deliver stakeholder trainings and communications for risk oversight.
  • Support ongoing monitoring and QA of governance processes.

Support the maintenance and ongoing development of the system(s) of record and the aggregation, administration, analysis, monitoring and escalation of risk governance reporting to the appropriate business functions and enterprise-level risk committees.

LOCATION:

Please note that candidate must be located in the following location: Charlotte, NC. The Truist in-office expectation is 5 days/week. No remote/telecommute option at this time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Provide consultative leadership and develop working relationships across the user base for the enterprise-wide system(s) of record for governance materials to drive the implementation and execution of a multi-level governance document structure and comprehensive inventory for all defined governance materials.

2. Support, maintain, and develop the enterprise-wide system(s) of record for governance materials through consultative relationship management, proactive vendor management, user assistance/ troubleshooting, periodic quality assurance/control activities, and general system administration.

3. Support the aggregation, administration, analysis, monitoring and escalation of risk governance activities through the reporting of exceptions, issues, key risk indicators, and limits/thresholds to the appropriate business functions and enterprise-level risk committees.

4. Support and provide technical expertise to the design, implementation, and execution of comprehensive, forward-looking and risk-based frameworks, processes, and systems for prioritizing, structuring, reviewing and approving governance materials throughout the company.

5. Identify and monitor risk governance exceptions, issues, and emerging trends across the system(s) of record user base to drive their remediation, acceptance, or escalation to governing bodies.

6. Support and provide technical expertise to the development and delivery of risk governance stakeholder trainings and communications to support a proactive, enterprise-level and risk-based oversight program.

7. Support and contribute to the execution of ongoing monitoring and quality assurance/control activities of the processes and functions performed by the system(s) of record user base.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Communications or equivalent education and related training

2. 5+ years of financial services or risk management experience or demonstrated equivalent proficiency

3. Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with ability to interact and communicate across functions and levels of organization

4. Strong analytical, cognitive, conceptual, critical thinking and organizational skills

5. Demonstrated coordination, communication (verbal and written), presentation and facilitation skills

6. Demonstrated planning ability with demonstrated judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills

7. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Financial services or banking industry experience.
  • Experience supporting Enterprise Risk Management Frameworks (ERMF), Risk Appetite Frameworks, or risk governance programs.
  • Experience evaluating governance frameworks, policies, standards, procedures, or risk management processes.
  • Experience analyzing complex data and translating findings into actionable recommendations for leadership.
  • Experience developing management reporting, metrics, dashboards, or monitoring routines.
  • Experience developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), maturity assessments, or effectiveness measures.
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations, audit reviews, issue management, or remediation activities.
  • Ability to assess both design effectiveness and operating effectiveness of governance and risk management processes.
  • Ability to challenge existing processes constructively and recommend practical solutions.
  • Professional certifications such as:
    • CIA
    • CPA
    • CRCM
    • FRM
