Job summary

Erias Ventures is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our fast-paced development team. The role focuses on Kubernetes-based infrastructure, AWS cloud environments, CI/CD, automation, and big data solutions.

The candidate will support on-site operations in Columbia, MD, with strong leadership and mentoring responsibilities. Ideal candidates have 9+ years in DevOps or related fields (7+ with a Master’s) and hold TS/SCI w/ CI Polygraph clearance.

Qualifications

• Nine+ years DevOps Engineering or Software Development experience, or seven+ years with a Master’s degree
• DoD 8140/8570 compliance certifications (Security+) are required
• U.S. citizenship and TS/SCI w/ CI Polygraph clearance required
• Experience with cloud and edge infrastructure deployment and management
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration tools
• Proficient in multiple programming languages: Python, Bash, Go

Responsibilities

Description

We seeking are seeking a highly motivated and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our fast-paced development team. The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge in Kubernetes and Container Orchestration, Configuration Management, CI/CD, Automation, AWS, Linux systems administration, Scripting in Bash and Programming in Python, and a background in Big Data solutions. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for implementing infrastructure, automating deployment processes, and ensuring the monitoring, reliability and scalability of our services. This role currently supports a customer onsite in Columbia, MD.

• Support development and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS, especially EKS
• Support development and deployment of non-cloud (Edge) infrastructure of on-premise and portable equipment
• Automate deployment processes and ensure reliability and scalability of services
• Manage and maintain Kubernetes containers and cloud infrastructure on AWS
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate their applications into the infrastructure
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems and resolve issues as necessary
• Continuously improve processes and tools to ensure high availability and performance
• Stay current with new technologies and industry trends, continuously exploring new ways to improve our infrastructure
• Seamlessly transition between hands-on execution and team guidance, treating mentorship and team leadership as inherent components of senior-level impact
• Other duties as assigned

Clearance

A current TS/SCI w/ CI Polygraph level U.S. Government Security clearance is required; U.S. citizenship required.

Experience

Nine plus (9+) years of experience in DevOps Engineering or Software Development and Bachelors in related field; or seven (7) years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and thirteen (13) years relevant experience.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda) and their application to deployment and management of infrastructure
• Proficient in configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Experience with application, container, and OS deployment, scaling, and management
• Ability to develop in multiple programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Go
• Familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools
• Must be comfortable in a terminal-based environment
• Proficient knowledge of Linux, including system administration and troubleshooting
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites
• Demonstrated experience serving as a tech lead, mentor, or manager for engineering teams
• Must have a DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certifications (i.e. Security+)
• Must be willing/able to help open/close the workspace during regular business hours as needed
• Maintain a standard 40-hour, 5-day on-site work week in Columbia, MD, assisting with general facility open/close procedures as needed
• Flex standard daily/weekly hours to execute critical installs, upgrades, and maintenance during scheduled off-hours/weekend maintenance windows to minimize user disruption
• Expect approximately 1-2 off-hour weekday shifts and 1 weekend shift per month, offset by adjusted daytime hours. Flexibility is required as this could increase/fluctuate based on customer/mission needs

Desired Skills

• Experience with big data technologies like: Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, Presto, etc.
• Experience with containers, EKS, Diode, CI/CD, and Terraform are a plus
