Job summary

The Enterprise Data Management (EDM) group at MFS provides hands-on data quality and governance experience. You will support data initiatives, perform quality checks, and learn about the Unified Data Platform within a leading asset manager.

This 6-month co-op runs January 13, 2027 through June 25, 2027, Monday–Friday, 35–40 hours, with a hybrid work setup for undergraduates enrolled in a co-op program.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated and able to take initiative.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Interest in investment data, operations, and related tech.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft CoPilot.
• Experience with data visualization and SQL; SharePoint helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work with the team to refine data management and quality procedures for core investment data domains.
• Collaborate with Data Analysts and domain owners to identify, build, and implement new data quality checks.
• Execute daily and monthly data quality checks and improve checks where needed.
• Contribute to EDM data initiatives requiring data analysis.
• Assist with Investments and Distribution Triage oversight; ensure metadata completeness.
• Maintain the EDM SharePoint site and support data-focused projects.

THE ROLE

At the conclusion of this position, co-ops will have increased their knowledge of investing, the mutual fund industry, employee engagement, and a firm understanding of investment operations, data, and technology at an asset manager.

MFS co-op positions are a 6-month commitment, working Monday - Friday (January 13th through June 25th, 2027), and work between 35-40 hours. Our program is designed for undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in a co-op program through their college or university and can meet our requirements.

Job Summary

The Enterprise Data Management (EDM) group includes teams focused on data management and quality, market data management, data governance, analytics support, and data technology that services the data needs and capabilities of the enterprise. This role will report to the Data Management & Quality organization and primarily perform data quality-focused activities and data management initiatives but will have the opportunity to gain exposure to all areas of EDM including the technologies utilized to support the Unified Data Platform.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Work with the team to refine various procedures and activities that enhance data management and quality environment related to core investment data domains
• Work with Data Analysts and data domain owners to identify, build, and implement new data quality checks
• Execute daily and monthly data quality checks, identifying opportunities to strengthen and improve checks
• Opportunistically contribute to EDM data initiatives that require data analysis
• Assist with Investments and Distribution Triage daily/weekly oversight activities; ensuring metadata completeness for root causes, domain type, and accountability/ownership
• Assist with maintenance of EDM SharePoint site
• Other data-focused tasks and projects as needed
