Job summary

IBM Consulting seeks a Data Governance Systems Designer to define and operationalize governance for data products in a large data modernization program. You will shape data definitions, ownership, quality rules, and metadata to build a trusted, auditable platform.

You will work across AWS, Databricks, and SAP-sourced data, applying governance policies in Unity Catalog and Collibra as needed, and lead governance workshops with business and IT stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Must be able to travel 4 days per week.
• Strong expertise in data governance, data analysis, or data management.
• Hands-on experience with governance/catalogue tools (Collibra/Alation) and Databricks Unity Catalog.
• Knowledge of data lineage, metadata, data quality frameworks, and governance tech.
• Strong SQL and data profiling, with experience in Erwin/ER Studio.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain business glossary, data definitions, and ownership/stewardship models.
• Document data lineage, metadata, and classification for data products across AWS/Databricks and SAP-sourced data.
• Design data quality rules, thresholds, and monitoring with data product owners and engineers.
• Ensure data models stay aligned with governance standards (Erwin/ER Studio).
• Apply governance policies in Unity Catalog and Collibra if adopted.
• Run governance workshops and issue-resolution processes with business and IT stakeholders.
• Support compliance, privacy, and audit needs; report governance metrics.
• Design and implement metadata repositories capturing business and data quality rules.
