Job summary

VHB is seeking a Database Architect to join our Technology Enablement team. This role designs and leads enterprise data architecture solutions that support markets including Transportation, Energy, Government and Real Estate.

You will help shape scalable, secure, and high‑performing database environments enabling data‑driven decisions across the organization. This position can be located in multiple VHB offices with a flexible hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of directly-related database management experience.
• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
• Experience with ETL, data warehousing, and API integrations.
• Knowledge of data governance, security, backups, and high availability.
• Experience with transportation crash data or safety analytics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise database architectures, data models, and data integration strategies.
• Lead the planning and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performing database solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support enterprise data initiatives and system integration.
• Design and support databases for data management systems including reporting and analytics.
• Develop and maintain data models aligned with business and technical needs.
• Define standards, governance, naming conventions, and data quality processes.
