Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Architect with strong expertise in NoSQL databases, AWS Cloud, distributed data platforms, and high-volume data environments. The role will lead the architecture and modernization of scalable, secure, high-performance data platforms supporting mission-critical applications and financial/business analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and design of data platforms on AWS.
- Design highly available, fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions for high-throughput, low-latency workloads.
- Architect AWS solutions using EC2, EKS, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, and related services.
- Define NoSQL data models, including schema design, partitioning, indexing, sharding, and replication.
- Design solutions supporting high-volume, historical, legacy, and multi-year data.
- Develop strategies for performance tuning, capacity planning, backup, disaster recovery, and data retention/archival.
- Support financial health, financial reporting, historical trend analysis, forecasting, and analytics.
- Lead modernization/migration from legacy or relational platforms to cloud/NoSQL architectures.
- Ensure data security, encryption, access control, compliance, and governance.
- Provide technical leadership, architecture reviews, standards, and guidance to engineering teams.
Minimum Qualifications (MQ)
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, database engineering, or distributed data platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB and/or Apache Cassandra.
- Proven experience deploying and managing NoSQL databases on AWS Cloud.
- Strong understanding of NoSQL data modeling, CAP trade-offs, sharding, partitioning, replication, and indexing.
- Experience designing high-volume/high-throughput data platforms handling millions/billions of records.
- Experience with historical, legacy, and multi-year datasets.
- Experience with financial or business-critical data, including financial health/performance analytics.
- Strong knowledge of database performance, scalability, resiliency, HA, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with AWS EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch; EKS is a plus.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
Desired Qualifications (DQ)
- MongoDB Atlas on AWS or Amazon Keyspaces.
- Kubernetes/EKS and containerized database deployments.
- Kafka/Kinesis or event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or other analytical platforms.
- Experience with data governance, quality, lineage, and metadata management.
- Experience migrating legacy/relational systems while preserving multi-year historical data.
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or Database Specialty.
- Experience in financial services, public sector, government, or other regulated environments.
