Job summary

Cognizant seeks an experienced Architect to design and deliver scalable AWS cloud solutions in a hybrid work environment. You will mentor peers and ensure cloud platforms meet business outcomes, regulatory expectations, and operational excellence for a global organization.

The role emphasizes secure, resilient architectures, reference designs, and collaboration with product owners and engineering teams to translate objectives into production-ready AWS solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field from an accredited institution.
• 12–15 years of progressive experience in solution design and architecture with a focus on AWS-based systems for enterprise scale environments.
• Hands-on expertise with core AWS services including compute, storage, databases, networking, IAM, and security.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform) to automate deployments.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, encryption, and key management in AWS.
• Proven ability to design resilient DR-ready solutions with multi-AZ architectures.
• Knowledge of microservices, containerization, and API-driven design on AWS.
• Experience in hybrid work models and collaborating via digital tools with distributed teams.
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and observability concepts for cloud solutions.
• Clear communication to present options, risks, and recommendations to diverse audiences.
• Guidance through cloud migration initiatives including assessment, planning, and post-migration optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design robust AWS architectures that are available, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
• Develop end-to-end cloud solutions integrating compute, storage, network, and security services.
• Translate business objectives into detailed AWS designs for implementable solutions.
• Define reference architectures and cloud design patterns for reuse and efficiency.
• Review proposals and provide architectural guidance to optimize performance, cost, and security.
• Create architecture documents and diagrams detailing governance in production environments.
• Collaborate with security and compliance to embed IAM, encryption, and monitoring practices.
• Guide DevOps teams on AWS deployment, automation, observability, and incident resilience.
• Conduct architecture assessments and readiness reviews to identify risks and opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement by analyzing performance metrics and optimizing reliability and cost.
• Explain architecture decisions and tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor colleagues to raise cloud architectural maturity across the organization.
• Align roadmaps with strategy to ensure AWS adoption supports innovation and sustainability.
