Enterprise Architect

Summary Role Description: The Enterprise Architect is a strategic role responsible for the design, development, and deployment of comprehensive enterprise architecture frameworks. This role entails aligning IT strategy and planning with company vision by integrating business processes with technology. The Centralized Architect will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between complex business problems and solutions in the mortgage insurance domain.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an overarching view of architecture strategy, governance framework, and standards to support the business strategy in the mortgage insurance sector.
  • Lead the formulation of technology roadmaps that align with strategic goals, ensuring that IT capabilities respond to the needs of the business.
  • Coordinate roadmap development with Solutions Architects aligned to key business verticals, i.e., Mortgage Insurance Operations, Customer Experience, and Insights Ready Data.
  • Engage with IS Business Relationship Managers (BRMs) to understand business objectives, coordinate high level estimates, and advise BRM and business leaders on IS and industry technology trends that could enhance the business.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies that best fit business and IT strategic needs, conducting architectural assessments and providing direction on the selection of IT investments.
  • Lead the architecture community, ensuring that all technology initiatives align with the strategic architecture and meet quality standards. Communicating with Solution Architects and Technical Leads across IS for guidance and governance.


6-12 Month Key Deliverables/Outcomes:
  • Establish a comprehensive enterprise architecture blueprint that aligns with strategic objectives, IS strategy, and cost optimization efforts.
  • Develop and begin the execution of a multi-year technology roadmap that addresses key business challenges and opportunities within the mortgage insurance industry.
  • Implement a governance and guidance framework that ensures architectural consistency and alignment across all IS projects and operations.

Background, Experience, and Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an enterprise architecture role, with a strong preference for experience in the mortgage insurance or financial services industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex IT solutions in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Profound knowledge of architectural methodologies and frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of the mortgage insurance business model and the regulatory environment affecting IT within the industry.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of building relationships with key stakeholders and senior management.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred/Ideal Qualifications:
  • Professional certification in Enterprise Architecture (e.g., TOGAF Certification).
  • Experience in digital transformation projects within the mortgage insurance or financial services sector.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies like cloud computing, AI/ML, and blockchain, and their application in the mortgage insurance industry.

Location and Salary Range:
  • Location: Flexible / Remote with occasional travel to headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
