Onward Legal Innovation seeks an Enterprise Architect – Cloud, Microsoft Modernisation & AI to lead enterprise-wide technology architecture, Microsoft modernization, Azure/AWS strategy, security, data governance and AI adoption for a leading global law firm.

Reporting to the CIO, this senior role defines the target-state architecture, sets standards and drives secure AI adoption, including Copilot and Azure OpenAI, across multiple US-based locations (primarily remote).

Qualifications

• 10+ years of enterprise infrastructure/architecture experience within a governance framework (enterprise, solutions or infrastructure).
• Strong Microsoft infrastructure expertise (AD, Windows Server, Exchange, M365, Entra ID) with modernization experience.
• Extensive Azure and AWS architecture experience, including landing zones and governance.
• Deep security focus: Zero Trust, CA, identity governance and information protection.
• Knowledge of AI architecture and governance with Copilot/Azure OpenAI.
• Experience defining standards, roadmaps and governance; senior stakeholder mgmt.
• TOGAF, Azure/AWS certs and iManage experience desirable.

An Enterprise Architect – Cloud, Microsoft Modernisation & AI is required to lead enterprise-wide technology architecture, Microsoft infrastructure modernisation, Azure and AWS cloud strategy, security, data governance and AI adoption for one of the US's largest and most prestigious global law firms.

Reporting directly to the CIO, this senior technical leadership role will define the target-state architecture, establish technology standards and drive the secure adoption of AI technologies, including Microsoft Copilot and Azure OpenAI.

Location: USA – New York, Washington D.C., Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Orange County or Century City (primarily remote)

You must be eligible to work in the US (Green Card or US Citizen) - No sponsorship provided.

Salary: $175,000 – $220,000 base + discretionary bonus

Key skills required for the Enterprise Architect

• 10+ years' experience in enterprise infrastructure, including Enterprise, Solutions or Infrastructure Architecture within a governance framework.
• Strong Microsoft infrastructure expertise, including Active Directory, Windows Server, Exchange, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, with proven modernization experience.
• Extensive Azure and AWS architecture experience, including landing zones, hybrid connectivity, identity and cloud governance.
• Strong understanding of enterprise networking, firewalls, segmentation and hybrid cloud security.
• Expertise in Zero Trust, identity governance, Conditional Access and security architecture.
• Experience with data governance and information protection, including Microsoft Purview, DLP and encryption.
• Knowledge of AI architecture and governance, ideally Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI and Power Platform.
• Experience developing architecture standards, roadmaps and governance processes, with strong senior stakeholder management skills.
• Background in legal, professional services or regulated environments highly desirable; TOGAF, Azure/AWS certifications and iManage experience advantageous.

What you'll do as an Enterprise Architect

• Define and govern enterprise architecture strategy across infrastructure, cloud, security, data and AI.
• Lead Microsoft infrastructure modernization, transitioning legacy environments toward Microsoft 365, Entra ID and cloud-native services.
• Design and oversee Azure and AWS architectures, including landing zones, connectivity, security and governance.
• Establish architectural standards for networking, firewalls, Zero Trust and information protection.
• Shape the firm's AI architecture and governance strategy, including Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI and responsible AI adoption.
• Develop architecture roadmaps, reference models and standards, advising the CIO and Architecture Review Board.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, applications and data teams to deliver secure, scalable technology solutions.
