Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as TOGAF or equivalent preferred.

Job description

The Enterprise Architect is responsible for aligning business strategy, processes, data, applications, and technology to support the organization's strategic objectives. This role serves as a key advisor and governance partner to business and technology stakeholders, ensuring that new initiatives, systems, and solutions are architected in a way that promotes business value, minimizes risk, maximizes reuse, and supports long-term enterprise goals.

The Enterprise Architect leads solution and integration design activities, validates technology demands, oversees information and data architecture practices, and collaborates with governance teams to ensure data quality, lineage, compliance, and architectural consistency across the enterprise. The role also plays a critical part in evaluating emerging technologies, vendor solutions, business roadmaps, and AI-related capabilities to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and future-state architecture.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Enterprise Architecture & Strategy

  • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture standards, principles, and target-state architectures

  • Align technology investments, business capabilities, processes, and data assets with organizational objectives

  • Partner with business and technology leaders to develop strategic roadmaps and architectural direction

  • Maintain enterprise-wide visibility of applications, technologies, processes, integrations, and data assets

Demand Evaluation & Governance

  • Evaluate new business and technology demands to confirm strategic alignment and eliminate duplication of capabilities or solutions.

  • Participate in governance processes to ensure initiatives comply with enterprise standards, policies, and architectural principles.

  • Provide architectural reviews and recommendations throughout project lifecycles

  • Support PMO and governance activities through defined work breakdown structures, controls, and accountability models

Solution Architecture

  • Design and review enterprise solutions that address both current and future business requirements.

  • Ensure solutions adequately represent stakeholder needs, operational requirements, scalability, resiliency, security, and maintainability.

Integration Architecture

  • Lead integration architecture and interface design activities across enterprise systems.

  • Create integration specifications that reduce implementation risk and encourage reuse of existing services and capabilities.

  • Maintain and evolve the enterprise integration repository and interface inventory.

  • Define data flows, interfaces, and integration patterns supporting enterprise interoperability.

Information & Data Architecture

  • Establish and maintain information architecture standards and data models.

  • Ensure consistent use of enterprise data definitions, business rules, and governance policies.

  • Support conceptual and logical data modeling activities.

  • Define and govern data mappings, lineage, and system-to-system information flows.

  • Collaborate with Data Governance and Information Governance teams to improve data quality, ownership, transparency, and compliance.

Architecture Repository Management

  • Maintain enterprise architecture repositories documenting systems, applications, technologies, integrations, processes, ownership, and dependencies.

  • Track technology lifecycles, including systems in planning, development, active use, deprecation, and retirement.

  • Document critical application attributes, ownership, classifications, vendor information, technical debt, service dependencies, and architectural relationships.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with business leaders, product owners, project teams, developers, data governance teams, and vendors.

  • Communicate architectural decisions, standards, and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Facilitate architecture reviews, workshops, and design sessions.

  • Provide thought leadership regarding emerging technologies, business capabilities, and AI-driven opportunities.

  • Assess solution feasibility and recommend appropriate architectural approaches.

  • Review and challenge vendor-provided architectures and designs to identify risks, gaps, and required mitigations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, systems architecture, or related technology leadership roles.

  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise applications, systems integration, data architecture, and solution design.

  • Strong understanding of business capability modeling, application architecture, information architecture, and enterprise technology governance.

  • Experience developing architecture artifacts, roadmaps, conceptual models, and integration specifications.

  • Knowledge of data governance, data lineage, metadata management, and information management practices.

  • Experience evaluating vendor technologies and conducting architectural due diligence.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, APIs, microservices, enterprise integrations, and modern application architectures.

  • Professional certifications such as TOGAF, Certified Enterprise Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or comparable certifications are preferred.

The New York and Washington DC hiring range is $133,600 - $$200,400.
