Job summary

Ashburn Consulting LLC in the Washington, DC metropolitan area seeks an Enterprise Architect to lead disaster recovery and security architecture initiatives across critical facilities and networks. This role reports to the Chief Architect and aligns DR/BC with business priorities.

You will partner with domain admins to strengthen Active Directory and identity architecture, define RACI for core services, and shape secure remote access and perimeter patterns with security and network teams.

• Shape secure remote access and perimeter defense patterns with teams.
• Improve Active Directory and identity architecture; define RACI roles.
• Guide network segmentation and retirement of legacy overlays.
• Collaborate with app, database and infra teams to improve observability.
• Translate risks and options for CIO, leadership, and agency stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead DR and BC initiatives for critical facilities including 911/backups.
• Assess current DR posture (RTO/RPO) and design target state architectures.
• Develop secure remote access and perimeter defense patterns with security teams.
• Partner with domain admins on AD/identity architecture and RACI.
• Drive network segmentation and retire legacy overlays for resilience.
• Work with cross-functional teams to enhance observability and response.
• Present risks and options clearly to CIO and executives.

Job Description

Enterprise Architect to support the Chief Architect.

• Lead key disaster recovery and business continuity efforts, including architecture for critical facilities such as 911 and backup sites.
• Assess the current state (RTO/RPO, DR plans, risks) and define the target state with clear, actionable DR architectures.
• Shape secure remote access and perimeter defense patterns with security and network teams—focusing on principles and capabilities, not just products.
• Partner with domain admins to improve Active Directory and identity architecture and help define roles and responsibilities (RACI) for core services.
• Guide network segmentation and the retirement of legacy network overlays to improve security and resilience.
• Work with application, database, and infrastructure teams to improve observability—so issues are detected early and recovery is faster.
• Translate technical risks and options into clear language for the CIO, senior leadership, and agency stakeholders, enabling informed decisions.
