Job summary

Erias Ventures, LLC is seeking an Agile Developer/Software Architect to own the design and delivery of AWS infrastructure and services. You will blend strong AWS expertise with Java and Python development, mentoring a small team while driving architectural best practices.

The role requires a Top-Secret/SCI with polygraph clearance, hands-on coding, and leadership in a growth-oriented company focused on innovative mission solutions.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional experience in related field, or 10+ years with a related Masters degree.
• Design end-to-end, scalable, secure architectures on AWS for event-driven services and data pipelines.
• Hands-on Java (Spring Boot) and Python (Lambdas) development for AWS Lambda or Kubernetes workloads.
• Infrastructure as Code with reproducible, version-controlled stacks.
• Data & messaging design using DynamoDB, OpenSearch, SQS, SNS for high throughput and low latency.
• Observability with CloudWatch, monitoring, logging, and dashboards.
• CI/CD and DevSecOps experience with GitLab, static analysis, blue-green/canary deployments.
• Technical leadership mentoring 2-4 junior developers; code reviews and architecture deep-dives.
• Strong cross-team collaboration and clear communication with leadership and stakeholders.
• Documentation of architecture with diagrams, run books, and SOPs; on-call operations readiness.

Responsibilities

• Create end-to-end, scalable, secure, cost-optimized AWS architectures for event-driven services and data pipelines.
• Write production Java (Spring Boot) and Python (Lambdas) services for AWS Lambda or containerized workloads.
• Define and maintain IaC with reproducibility and version control across the stack.
• Architect data and messaging layers using DynamoDB, OpenSearch, SQS, SNS for high throughput.
• Implement observability and reliability with CloudWatch, dashboards, and alerting.
• Drive CI/CD and DevSecOps practices with GitLab and blue-green/canary deployments.
• Mentor junior developers; conduct code reviews and architecture deep dives.
• Communicate technical details and roadblocks to leadership and stakeholders; provide robust solutions.
• Produce architectural diagrams, run books, knowledge base articles, and SOPs for on-call ops.
• Support on-call rotation as needed.

Description

We are seeking an Agile Developer/Software Architect who will own the design, delivery, and evolution of our AWS infrastructure and associated application services. The ideal candidate blends deep AWS expertise (Lambda, OpenSearch, DynamoDB, SQS, CloudWatch, etc.) with hands on Java and Python development skills and can mentor a small team of junior engineers while driving architectural best practices across the program.

Clearance

A current Top-Secret/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required. Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.

Experience

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education. 12 years or more of professional experience; or 10 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.

• Design & Blueprint – Create end to end, scalable, secure, and cost optimized architectures for event driven services, data pipelines, and search solutions on AWS.
• Hands On Development – Write production grade Java (Spring Boot) and Python (Lambdas) services that run as AWS Lambda functions or containerized workloads (Kubernetes).
• Infrastructure as Code – Define and maintain IaC, ensuring reproducibility and version control of the entire stack
• Data & Messaging Layer – Architect and implement solutions leveraging DynamoDB, OpenSearch, SQS, SNS for high throughput, low latency data access and streaming.
• Observability & Reliability – Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting for CloudWatch and custom dashboards.
• CI/CD & DevSecOps - Be familiar with Gitlab pipeline, static code analysis, blue-green/canary deployments.
• Technical Leadership – Mentor 2 4 junior developers, conduct code reviews, run architecture deep dives, and champion best practice adoption (clean code, design patterns)
• Collaboration – Be able to communicate technical details / solutions as well as roadblocks to leadership and business stakeholders and provide robust solutions as needed.
• Documentation – Produce clear, up to date architectural diagrams, run books, and knowledge base articles to enable cross team consumption. Be able to prepare Standard Operating Procedure for frequently executed as well as on-call operations.
• Ability to support on-call rotation.
