Job summary

The University of Vermont Medical Center is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Otolaryngology (ENT) practice and care team. This position will join an established practice and contribute to increasing patient access to ENT services.

The PA/NP will work under specific accreditation standards in collaboration with an attending physician to develop and implement direct care for all ages of patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years full-time PA/NP clinical practice.
• Experience in pediatric or adult primary care, hospital medicine, or urgent care.
• Requires high degree of independence and clinical autonomy; new graduates not considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients of all ages in ambulatory ENT clinics, collaborating with an attending physician.
• Work under accreditation standards and deliver care in alignment with ENT team protocols.
• Occasionally support inpatient needs and may be scheduled up to one day weekly in the OR for surgical first assist or support.

This position will work primarily in the Ambulatory ENT clinic, with occasional support for inpatient needs and may be scheduled up to one day a week in the OR in a support or surgical first assist role.

Schedule

• This is a 1.0 FTE exempt position that will primarily be scheduled Mon – Fri 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
• No call or weekends required.
• Occasional adjustments to this schedule may be made to accommodate earlier starts based on OR support or patient needs.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years full-time clinical PA/NP practice experience required.
• Ideal candidates will have worked in pediatric or adult primary care, hospital medicine, or urgent care
• This position requires an experienced clinician who exhibits a high degree of independence and clinical autonomy. New PA/NP graduates are not able to be considered for this role.

Education & Licensure

• Master’s degree required; Doctorate degree preferred.
• Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) from the VT State Board of Nursing or as a Physician Assistant (PA) from the VT State Board of Medical Practice.
• For the NP candidate: RNFA Certification strongly desired or required to obtain within two years of hire.
