CCC Berkeley seeks an Enrichment Teacher to lead hands-on, heart-forward sessions in music, yoga, art, or another creative field. You will infuse our play-based classrooms with spark, guiding children through exploration and mindful movement.

In this role you will provide a structured one-hour lesson in FY and BY, with sessions typically on Tuesdays through Fridays from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The approach is flexible, inviting, and focused on social-emotional growth and creative discovery.

About CCC

Children's Community Center (CCC) is a play-based, cooperative preschool in Berkeley with roots stretching back to 1927. For nearly a century, families have come together here to build something rare: a school where children grow through exploration and parents actively participate in the life of the classroom.

At CCC, play is the curriculum. Children spend their days building, painting, negotiating, storytelling, digging, climbing, and asking big questions. Teachers thoughtfully prepare the environment and guide social learning, while leaving room for spontaneity and child-led discovery.

As a cooperative school, CCC runs on partnership. Parents contribute time in the classroom and behind the scenes, which strengthens the community and keeps the program accessible. The result is a warm, engaged network of families who know one another and show up for one another.

About This Role

This is a hands-on, heart-forward role at a cooperative preschool where play is serious work. As an Enrichment Teacher, whether you specialize in music, yoga, art, or another creative field, you'll step into our classrooms to lead sessions that feel both grounded and full of possibility. Your role is to infuse the environment with a unique spark, whether that looks like leading a group in rhythm and song, supporting a unique art project, or facilitating movement and mindfulness in the yard.

In this position, you will provide a structured experience that integrates into our community's focus on social-emotional growth and creative exploration. You will lead dedicated one-hour lessons in both our spaces, offering children a focused opportunity to engage with your craft. While you will be directing the specific activity, your approach should remain flexible and inviting, honoring the curiosity of the children and helping them navigate these new experiences with empathy and encouragement.

Class Structure

CCC Operates Two Separate Morning Programs:

• FrontYard (FY): Children ages 2.5-4 years old.
• BackYard (BY): Children ages 3-5 years old.

Each class serves up to 25 children, though groups are often divided into smaller cohorts of 12-13.

Planning & Scheduling

• Frequency: Enrichment teachers typically visit for a monthly session, or as otherwise agreed upon with the Teacher-Directors.
• Timing: Enrichment classes usually take place Tuesday through Friday, between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM.
• Rotation: You will spend approximately one hour in FY and one hour in BY.
• Transitions: Please plan for transition times between the two classes. Depending on your setup and preparation needs, we recommend allotting at least 15-20 minutes to avoid rushing.

Trial Session & Compensation

• Interview Process: Prospective Enrichment Teachers are expected to conduct a trial session as part of the interview process.
• Compensation: CCC pays $150/h for enrichment classes.
